Lewis Hamilton has dismissed any speculation about stepping away from Formula 1, making it clear that retirement is far from his mind and insisting he expects to remain in the sport for many years.

Questions about Hamilton's future emerged following a difficult opening season with Ferrari in 2025. His struggles during the campaign led to growing speculation that the seven-time world champion could decide to leave Formula 1 at the end of the season.

However, Hamilton firmly shut down those rumors and revealed that he remains committed to Ferrari beyond the current campaign. He also confirmed for the first time that his contract with the team extends into next season.

The 41-year-old emphasized that he remains fully motivated and passionate about racing, saying his desire to compete has not changed.

"Everything is 100 percent clear to me. I am still focused, still motivated and still love what I do with all my heart," Hamilton said. "I am going to be here for quite some time."

He also addressed ongoing discussions surrounding his future, saying outside opinions have not influenced his thinking.

"There are a lot of people trying to retire me and that is not even in my thoughts," he added. "I'm already thinking about what comes next and planning for the next five years."

Hamilton had previously hinted that his Ferrari agreement stretched beyond the 2026 season, noting last year that there was no immediate need to enter fresh negotiations. However, this marks the clearest confirmation yet that he is tied to the Italian team through at least the end of next season.

If Hamilton follows through on his current plans, he could continue racing beyond his 45th birthday, a rare achievement in Formula 1. Drivers competing at that age are uncommon, although long-time rival Fernando Alonso will celebrate his 45th birthday in July.

Hamilton experienced a difficult period during the latter stages of last season, at times questioning whether he still possessed the speed that defined much of his career. This season, however, his performances have been more competitive compared to teammate Charles Leclerc.

Leclerc currently sits third in the championship standings, holding an eight-point advantage over Hamilton, who occupies fifth place after the opening four races of the season.
