Sergio Perez has assured that, although it might not seem it, he has a good relationship with Max Verstappen and that there is a lot of respect between the Red Bull F1 teammates.

Perez has requested that his team allow him to compete for the Formula 1 championship as opposed to playing second fiddle to Verstappen, however the Dutchman will not accept anything but winning.

This has generated some friction between the co-drivers of the Austrian team, but Perez has insisted that there is respect between the teammates and that there is a good atmosphere in the Red Bull camp.

"To be honest, we respect each other a lot more than people might think," Checo told Racing News.

Despite the ongoing friction between the two star drivers, Sergio Perez said that the maturity among the team members allows them to handle situations in the appropriate way.

"There's a great atmosphere in the team, there's a very high level of respect between each other, with all the engineers on his side and mine," Perez said.

"I think we're both mature enough to know what's right and what's wrong, and as long as that's the case I don't expect that to change."
