Sergio Perez won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday to become the first driver to win twice on the Baku circuit.

The Mexican Red Bull driver finished 2.137 seconds ahead of teammate Max Verstappen, championship leader with 93 points, but who saw his lead with Checo Perez narrowed to 87 points in the 2023 Formula 1 season.

In a video released by DAZN, Verstappen is seen talking to his engineers about losing time on a section of the track.

"What gear should I use in Turn 3? It goes right between seventh and eighth," the Dutchman asked over the radio. "Seventh, Max," they replied.

"Are you sure this is better? I don't think so," Verstappen replied. "Tell us what you're suffering with, Max," he was asked.

"The balance between the differential and the engine brake is not good," Max explained.

"We are going to check. Checo has done 45.4, you 45.6. You lose between turns seven and 12. Where you lose the most is in turn eight," they replied to the driver.

"Well, I don't know what I'm doing wrong, guys. I don't know," Verstappen lamented. "You lose two tenths in turn eight alone, but I wouldn't push any harder," they suggested.

"I can't push in that corner. I have no grip on the front," specified the championship leader.

"Understood, any changes with the wing?" he was asked. "I'm happy the way it's going," replied the F1 champion.
