Spain's Carlos Alcaraz proved his resilience by defeating Russia's Andrey Rublev at the ATP Finals on November 11, reigniting his title hopes despite recent health challenges. Alcaraz, a four-time Grand Slam champion, has been battling respiratory issues during the tournament in Turin. He wore pink nasal tape during his impressive 6-3, 7-6(8) victory, showing determination to push through his condition.

Alcaraz, seeded third, bounced back after a tough opening match loss to Casper Ruud. Following the win, he admitted his performance exceeded his expectations, given his health struggles earlier in the week. "Once you step on court, you have to forget everything," Alcaraz stated, emphasizing his focus on the game rather than his physical discomfort.

The match remained intense, with both players showcasing strong serves and forcing a dramatic tiebreak in the second set. Alcaraz ultimately sealed the win, fending off two set points from Rublev, who has now lost six consecutive matches at the ATP Finals since his 2022 semi-final run.

Alcaraz's final group stage match will be against world number two Alexander Zverev on Friday, a crucial encounter that could determine his place in the semi-finals.
