Ben Shelton had a heartfelt message for girlfriend Trinity Rodman after capturing the first grass-court title of his career.
The 23-year-old American tennis star defeated fellow American Taylor Fritz in the Stuttgart Open final on June 14, securing another milestone in what has already been an impressive season. During the trophy presentation, Shelton made sure to acknowledge Rodman's support from the stands.
Addressing the crowd, Shelton thanked Rodman for traveling from Brazil to Germany to cheer him on during the tournament.
"I want to thank my girlfriend for flying here from Brazil," he said.
He then joked that Rodman might be the secret behind his success this year.
"I won a title at I think every tournament she's been at this year," Shelton said, drawing smiles from both Rodman and the audience. "You're definitely the good luck charm, so I really appreciate you making the effort."
Rodman, 24, had been in Brazil representing the United States women's national team in a pair of international friendlies before making the trip to Germany to support Shelton.
Sunday's victory marked Shelton's third title of the season and another sign of his growing confidence across different playing surfaces.
Following the win, Rodman celebrated the moment on social media by posting a sweet selfie of the couple from the tournament. She captioned the photo, "#1 fan I love you ❤️."
Shelton quickly returned the affection, commenting simply, "Mine ❤️."
The Washington Spirit forward also caught fans' attention with her outfit choice at the tournament, sporting a "Ben 10" tank top in support of her boyfriend. Later, she shared details about the shirt on Instagram Stories and joked that fans had been eager to know where it came from.
The couple first confirmed their relationship publicly in March 2025 with an affectionate Instagram post, shortly after sparking romance rumors on TikTok.
Weeks later, Rodman addressed the relationship during an appearance on SportsCenter, saying she was very happy and understood that being in the public eye came with increased attention.
At the end of 2025, Rodman offered another glimpse into their romance while reflecting on the year in an Instagram post. Calling Shelton her "soulmate," she thanked the year for bringing him into her life.
With Shelton thriving on the court and Rodman continuing to shine in soccer, the pair have become one of sports' most talked-about young couples, supporting each other's success every step of the way.
