Jamie Dornan has revealed that he still keeps in touch with his Fifty Shades co-star Dakota Johnson, six years after the final film of the franchise hit cinemas. Speaking to Metro at the Into Film Awards, Dornan shared, "I was just texting with her a couple days ago. I think she's London-bound a wee bit over the next few weeks so I'm trying to see her and Chris for dinner," referring to Johnson's partner, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

Dakota Johnson, who starred opposite Dornan as Anastasia Steele in the raunchy film series, considers him like family. In a Vanity Fair interview from June 2022, she expressed, "There was never a time when we didn't get along. I know it's weird, but he's like a brother to me." She added, "We were really there for each other. We had to really trust each other and protect each other."

Over the weekend, Johnson supported Martin at the Glastonbury Festival, where Coldplay performed a headlining set. She was joined by Martin's children, Apple and Moses, whom he shares with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow. Johnson and Martin, who have been dating since 2017, are rumored to be engaged. A source told The Mirror, "The couple got engaged a while ago and have kept the news private. They have been besotted with each other from day one so taking this next step was inevitable."

In her March interview with Bustle, Johnson gushed about watching Martin perform. "I love watching him. I could watch him every day. I don’t know how to explain it. I feel like, I don’t know... I’m watching my most favorite being do his most favorite thing."

The Fifty Shades franchise, based on E. L. James' novels, starred Dornan as Christian Grey and Johnson as Anastasia Steele. The series was a significant success, with the first film, Fifty Shades of Grey, released on February 13, 2015, followed by Fifty Shades Darker on February 10, 2017, and Fifty Shades Freed on February 9, 2018. The films became one of the highest-grossing series directed by a woman.
