Lara Flynn Boyle, known for her roles in “Twin Peaks” and the upcoming film “Mother, Couch,” recently opened up about her past relationship with legendary actor Jack Nicholson. Despite their romance ending years ago, Boyle revealed that she and Nicholson still keep in touch, though they no longer spend time together. “We’re not hanging out,” she clarified, but added that Nicholson was “a huge part of my life” and that their time together was filled with “seven years of great times” and “wonderful” memories.
Boyle and Nicholson’s relationship began in 1999 and continued on and off until 2001. They were later seen together on vacation in St. Tropez in 2006, just months before Boyle met and married her husband, Texas real estate investor Donald Ray Thomas. Reflecting on her time with Nicholson, Boyle emphasized the positive impact he had on her life, despite the end of their romantic involvement.
Addressing a long-standing rumor, Boyle denied that Nicholson asked her out in front of her then-boyfriend, David Spade. Spade had previously claimed that Nicholson made his move while they were all together, but Boyle insists this never happened. “I think certain people like to embellish that for publicity,” she said, dismissing the story as fiction.
Boyle also shared insights into Nicholson’s current life. Although he hasn’t appeared in a film since 2010’s “How Do You Know,” Boyle insists that Nicholson is far from retired. “The world of Jack is always here. There’s no retiring for the world of Jack. Never,” she said, hinting at his ongoing creative endeavors.
Now happily married to Thomas, Boyle credits the success of their 18-year marriage to “honesty, maturity, experience, and respect.” She divides her time between Los Angeles and Texas, where Thomas is from, and reflects on the importance of timing and personal growth in finding lasting love. “A lot of it is growing up,” she explained. “I’ve had so many lovely gentleman callers. I have had a blast, and I have just met wonderful men to have time with and to learn with and grow with. It was just the right timing.”
Boyle’s reflections offer a glimpse into the complexities of maintaining relationships in Hollywood, where personal and professional lives often intertwine. Her candidness about her past with Nicholson and her current life with Thomas highlights the enduring impact of significant relationships and the importance of growth and maturity in finding lasting happiness.
