Adidas recently made the decision to have Bella Hadid on the company’s advertising campaign for its retro 1972 Olympic sneakers.
In choosing Bella Hadid, Adidas angered many of its customers because the supermodel and her family showed support for Palestine in the Israel-Palestine war that began October 7th 2023.
Bella Hadid is half-Palestine on her father’s side Mohammed.
Critics were bothered by the 1972 connection because that was the same year 11 Israeli athletes and coaches were killed by a Palestinian terrorist group at the Munich games.
The German athletic wear company announced Monday the re-launch of the classic SL 72 shoe ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
This year marks the 52nd anniversary of the “Munich Massacre,” when members of the Palestinian terrorist group Black September stormed the Olympic village and took the Israeli athletes and coaches hostage before they were eventually killed.
The Israeli government has also contacted Adidas for an explanation of why Hadid was chosen to spearhead the campaign.
