Javaughn Young White, Kehlani's ex-boyfriend has filed for full custody of their 5 year old daughter, Adeya Nomi. He claims that the singer is in a “cult” that “performs ‘religious ceremonies’” on their child. White went ahead to say that the leader of the cult has been accused of committing sexual assault against women and young girls.
“Adeya was born through a home birth orchestrated by what I would describe as a cult that she belongs in,” the filing states, per People. “Due to the fact that Adeya was born in a home and not in a conventional setting like a hospital, my name is not on Adeya’s birth certificate.”
“The main reason that I am filing this petition is that [Kehlani] has been involved in this cult for the past few years and it appears that this cult controls her actions and her behavior, including when it comes to the upbringing of our daughter,” he wrote in his filings.
Javaughn Young White went ahead to claim that the cult leader performs strange ceremonies to their daughter and no one is allowed to enter the room aside from him. He also went ahead to request the court to establish paternity so as to enable him to exercise his rights as their child's father. He accused Kehlani of not including his name on Adeya's birth certificate.
“For example, the cult leader, who goes by the name of Neto, convinced Respondent that he had a vision that I was a danger to our daughter and would kill her,” Young-White continued, “and thereafter banned Respondent from allowing me to see Adeya.” White also went ahead to claim that the singer lied about him being gay in order to make their relationship seem less romantic. The paired welcomed their daughter in 2019 but split the following year.
