Javaughn Young White, Kehlani's ex-boyfriend accused her of being part of a sex cult and filed for full custody of their 5 year old daughter, Adeya Nomi. He claims that the singer has been allowing the leader of the religious cult to perform “religious ceremonies” on their daughter.

In the documents, Young-White alleged that the “cult” Kehlani is involved with has complete control over both the singer’s life and “when it comes to the upbringing” of their daughter. He also went ahead to claim that his name is not included in their child's birth certificate. This is because their daughter was born at home and not the conventional way in the case of a hospital.

Kehlani took to Instagram to deny her ex's claims, calling them “incredibly hurtful, inaccurate, inappropriate and simply untrue.” “I strongly deny any claims that I have put my child in harm’s way, or left my child alone with anyone deemed dangerous or unsafe,” their statement read via their Instagram Story. “I also do not align with any of the allegations made against my former religious community.”

“I have always taken great care to ensure that my child remains protected and safe at all times. My child and my commitment to motherhood have always been my sole driving forces in this life and will always remain so. This is who I am and what I have always focused on,” they continued to write.

Kehlani went ahead to claim that her issue with White is a legal, private and familial matter. Kehlani stated that they would be taking a break and space for their own personal well-being.

“Thank you for your support and for respecting my privacy,” they concluded. “I will not be commenting further and will let the legal due process take place.” After Kehlani denied the claims, Javaughn also released a statement via his Instagram.

“I never said that I think Santeria is a sex cult. Nor did I say that my daughter is in a sex cult. That's factually incorrect and I think it's disgusting that TMZ would exploit a child's image like that,” he wrote. He also went ahead to bash the publication, claiming that such narrative will create obstacles in ensuring his  child's safety.
