Noah Lyles is saying goodbye to the Olympics in 2024. With a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, the Team USA track star announced the update soon after winning the bronze in the men's 200-meter final.

On August 8, Noah posted on Instagram, saying, "I want to thank everyone for the supportive messages." "I think that this marks the end of my Olympic career in 2024. Although it's not the Olympics I had hoped for, I'm incredibly happy about it."

In addition, Noah congratulated Team USA's Kenny Bednarek and Letsile Tebogo of Botswana, who won the gold and silver medals in the competition, respectively. Despite his disappointment at having to withdraw from the games, he is nevertheless appreciative of everyone who tuned in to watch him.

He went on, "I hope everyone enjoyed the show." "Whether you were rooting for me or against me, you have to admit you watched, didn't you?"

The 27-year-old, who had previously taken home the gold in the men's 100-meter race, finished the 200-meter final in dramatic fashion, collapsing to the track and appearing to be out of breath before wheeling out of the competition.

Following the tearful conversation, Keisha Cane Bishop, Noah's mother, disclosed that the issues were linked to his COVID-19 diagnosis, which he had independently confirmed.

Noah told NBC Sports, "I was just feeling really horrible, and I knew it was more than just being sore from the 100. I woke up early, about 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning." Sadly, when we tested and woke up the doctors, it turned out to be positive for COVID."

Noah revealed that he made an effort to remain calm and kept in mind that he would run in worse circumstances.

He explained, "We just took it day by day, trying to hydrate, quarantined off, and I can say for sure that it's taken its toll." However, I've never felt more pleased with myself for being able to come out here."
