Jamie Lee Curtis was officially named a Disney Legend at the D23 Expo, a prestigious event celebrating the contributions of iconic figures to the entertainment industry. The ceremony was a heartfelt tribute to Curtis’ remarkable career and enduring influence.
Lindsay Lohan, who co-starred with Curtis in the 2003 film “Freaky Friday,” took the stage to introduce a montage of Curtis’ most memorable roles. Lohan praised Curtis for her timelessness and unique ability to bring something special to every character she portrays. “I feel so blessed to have Jamie as a friend in my life, and I feel lucky to work with a woman that I admire so much,” Lohan said.
Jodie Foster, another close friend of Curtis, added a personal touch to the tribute. She shared amusing anecdotes about Curtis’ daily routine, revealing that Curtis eats dinner at 3 or 4 p.m., goes to bed by 7:30 p.m., and wakes up at 3 a.m. to start her day. Foster highlighted Curtis’ generosity and supportive nature, jokingly saying, “She is so thoughtful and so generous, such a supportive and kind cheerleader, that it just makes me want to punch her. Is that wrong?” Foster then presented Curtis with a pair of embroidered Mickey Mouse ears.
Curtis, visibly moved by the tributes, accepted her award with grace and emotion. She emphasized the importance of nurturing and education in creating legends, stating, “The truth is, legends aren’t formed. They’re created when they’re nurtured and taught and educated.” Curtis also shared her love for the Disney ride, the Carousel of Progress, and led the audience in singing its theme song, “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow”.
Currently, Curtis is working on “Freaky Friday 2,” a sequel to the beloved 2003 film. She also recently appeared as Madame Leota in the film adaptation of the Disneyland ride “Haunted Mansion”. Her ongoing projects and recent accolades underscore her enduring influence and versatility in the entertainment industry.
The D23 Expo also honored other notable figures, including Angela Bassett, Miley Cyrus, and Harrison Ford, highlighting the diverse talents that have contributed to Disney’s legacy. Curtis’ recognition as a Disney Legend is a testament to her incredible talent, dedication, and the lasting impact she has made on audiences worldwide. Her ability to continually reinvent herself and bring authenticity to her roles makes her a true legend in every sense of the word.
