Rachael Lillis, a voice actress for Pokémon who appeared in movies, TV shows, and video games as early as the late 1990s, passed away at the age of 46 from breast cancer.
Lillis provided the voices for numerous characters in the well-liked Japanese animation series, including Misty and Jessie.
Veronica Taylor, who co-stars as Ash Ketchum, the main Pokémon character, revealed her death.
Ms. Taylor observed, "Rachael was an extraordinary talent, a bright light that shone through her voice whether speaking or singing."
"Everyone is familiar with Rachael Lillis from her numerous amazing roles," Ms. Taylor posted on social media on Monday.
"She filled our Saturday mornings and before/after school hours with her beautiful voice, her terrific comic timing, and her remarkable acting skills."
According to her, Lillis was appreciative of the help she got while battling illness.
According to Ms. Taylor, "It really made a positive difference."
On a GoFundMe established earlier this year to seek money for Lillis's cancer treatment and to transfer her into a nursing home, her sister also verified Lillis's passing.
Laurie Orr commented, "This was unexpected, and we are completely grief-stricken," mentioning that her sister's condition had started to deteriorate a week ago.
"My heart breaks losing my dear little sister, though I am comforted knowing she is free," she stated.
Since her death was disclosed, supporters have donated more than $100,000 (£78,000) to the website, stating that she "went too soon and much too young" and that her "light shone bright" via her work.
The outstanding medical costs, a memorial ceremony, and "efforts to combat cancer" would now be the recipients of the monies, according to Ms. Orr.
Born in 1978 in Niagara Falls, New York, Lillis received her training in opera at a university before pursuing a career in voice acting.
IMDB reports that she provided the voice of Pokémon in 423 episodes from 1997 to 2015.
She also provided the voice of Jigglypuff, a Pokémon character, in the 2019 movie Detective Pikachu and in the Super Smash Bros. video game series.
