Demi Lovato has recently opened up about the profound emotional and physical toll that her early stardom took on her. In a candid interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lovato shared her experiences growing up in the spotlight and the lasting effects it has had on her life.

Lovato, who rose to fame as a teenager through her roles in Disney Channel's "Camp Rock" and "Sonny with a Chance," described her journey as anything but smooth. "I think I'd passed the threshold of what I could withstand emotionally and physically." The pressures of maintaining a public image while dealing with personal struggles proved to be overwhelming for the young star.

Reflecting on her behavior during her time on set, Lovato expressed remorse for how her pain manifested in her interactions with others saying "I think about people in the wardrobe department on my TV show because I'd go in there in bad moods all the time and I worry about guest stars that came on or the other actors or the people during Camp Rock 2."

Lovato's journey was further complicated by her relationship with her birth father. "I think I always chased success because I knew it would put me in his line of sight again," she shared. This pursuit of validation and love from her father added another layer of complexity to her already challenging career.

The singer's struggles with mental health and substance addiction have been well-documented over the years. Lovato has been open about her battles, using her platform to advocate for mental health awareness. "I didn't realize that child stardom could be traumatic and it isn't traumatic for everyone, but for me, it was." In her upcoming documentary, "Child Star," Lovato delves deeper into the effects of early fame.

Looking ahead, Lovato is determined to ensure that her future children have a different experience. She emphasized the importance of allowing them to have a normal childhood, free from the pressures of stardom. "I'd say, 'Let's study music theory and prepare you for the day you turn 18, because it's not happening before that."

Despite the challenges she faced, Lovato is now in a place of greater peace and stability. Engaged to fellow musician Jordan "Jutes" Lutes, she is looking forward to the future with optimism.
