Before proposing to Heidi Klum on Christmas morning, Tom Kaulitz took a thoughtful and touching step by involving Heidi's children in the process.

Tom Kaulitz, the guitarist for Tokio Hotel, and Heidi Klum, the renowned supermodel and "America's Got Talent" judge, began dating in 2018. Their relationship quickly blossomed, and it was clear that Tom wanted to make his proposal special and inclusive. Understanding the importance of Heidi's children in her life, Tom decided to seek their blessing before popping the question.

A close friend of Heidi shared with People, "Tom went to the kids and asked for Heidi's hand in marriage and they said 'yes.' The proposal itself was meticulously planned and executed with the help of Heidi's children. The family had gone to Mexico before their engagement, around Thanksgiving, where Tom began discussing his plans with the kids in secret. "They were so excited and happy for their mom," the friend revealed.

On Christmas Eve morning, Tom and the kids worked together to create a memorable surprise for Heidi. They prepared a breakfast tray that included coffee, flowers, and a ring box. The friend described the scene: "It was important for Tom to have the kids included in the whole thing, so they all brought the tray up to Heidi's room and surprised her with breakfast in bed and then he proposed."

Heidi was completely taken by surprise. Reflecting on the moment, she shared, "The sweetest thing that my partner has done for me is that he asked my kids first if he could ask for my hand. So he kind of was in cahoots with my kids. They figured out how they were going to do it and then they all surprised me on Christmas morning six years ago. I thought that was so nice that he involved my kids."
