Authorities have arrested an individual in connection with the tragic death of beloved actor Matthew Perry. Perry, best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the iconic sitcom "Friends," was found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023.

The arrest, which took place in Southern California, marks a crucial step in the ongoing investigation. According to NBC News, federal prosecutors are expected to unseal an indictment detailing the allegations against the arrested person and potentially others involved.

Perry's death was initially ruled an accident by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office. The autopsy report revealed that Perry had high levels of ketamine in his system, comparable to those used for general anesthesia during surgery.

The investigation, which has been ongoing since May, involved multiple agencies. In a statement, the LAPD confirmed their collaboration with federal authorities, stating, "Based on the Medical Examiner's findings, the Los Angeles Police Department, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the United States Postal Inspection Service, has continued its investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Perry's death."

Perry had been open about his struggles with addiction. In his 2022 memoir, "Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing," he candidly discussed his battles with opioid addiction and alcoholism. At the time of his death, Perry had reportedly been clean for 19 months.

The arrest has brought a sense of relief to Perry's family and friends. In a statement, Perry's family expressed their gratitude for the efforts of law enforcement, saying, "We look forward to justice being served and hope that this arrest brings some closure to all those who loved Matthew."

Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel Green on the show, also shared her thoughts on the arrest. Aniston revealed that she had been in contact with Perry on the morning of his death and described him as "happy and healthy." She urged fans to support the foundation set up in Perry's honor, which aims to help individuals struggling with addiction.

As the investigation continues, more details are expected to emerge about the circumstances leading to Perry's death and the individuals involved. A press conference is scheduled for later today, where law enforcement officials are expected to provide further updates on the case.
