Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have come to a settlement a year after Jonas filed for divorce. Court documents submitted on Sept. 6, and shared with People on Sept. 10, show that a Florida judge declared their marriage "irretrievably broken." Although the details of their agreement remain private, the documents highlight that the arrangement benefits both the individuals and their family.

Jonas, 35, and Turner, 28, were permitted to bypass the usual 20-day waiting period for finalizing the divorce. The judge confirmed that "the marriage is dissolved" and both parties are now legally single.

Jonas initially filed for divorce on Sept. 5, 2023, which People confirmed through court documents. In the filing, it was noted that the relationship was beyond repair. The day after, the pair issued a joint statement on social media, announcing the mutual decision to part ways after four years of marriage. They wrote, "After four wonderful years, we've amicably decided to end our marriage. Although there's speculation about the reasons, this is a mutual decision, and we kindly ask for privacy for ourselves and our children."

Documents from Sept. 21, 2023, revealed that Turner claimed the breakdown occurred suddenly after an argument on Aug. 15, 2023. She said she learned of the divorce through media reports following Jonas' filing. Despite having a prenuptial agreement, a custody battle emerged over their two daughters, Delphine, 2, and Willa, 4.

On Sept. 25, 2023, the couple reached a temporary agreement to keep the children in New York, amid Turner's claims that Jonas was holding onto their passports, preventing them from returning to England. This claim was dropped in January 2024. By Oct. 10, 2023, after mediation, they had settled on a temporary custody plan.

The custody disagreement intensified when Turner reiterated her wish to move back to England, a plan the couple had discussed during Christmas 2022, according to Turner's court petition. Jonas reportedly had a change of heart about the move.

In May 2024, Turner told British Vogue that she was saddened by the situation, particularly concerning her children. However, she expressed hope for a resolution and acknowledged Jonas' role as a great father. The couple, who wed in 2019, had two ceremonies—one in Las Vegas and another in France.
