In the midst of a challenging phase, Nikki Garcia is experiencing love. The former WWE star's sister Brie Garcia is lending support while she works through her divorce from Artem Chigvintsev. On the Nikki & Brie podcast, which aired on September 23, Brie actually made a solo appearance and gave an update on her twin's progress.
"Nikki isn’t here because, as you all know, she’s going through something personal in her life," Brie said. "and she just asks for her privacy for her and her family, so we’re going to give that."
She continued, "But she sees all the love and support, and we're always appreciative of all of your love and support, so thank you all for that."
Nikki will be back on the podcast in about a week, according to Brie. The former member of Total Bellas is concentrating on raising Matteo, Artem's 4-year-old son, until then.
Two weeks after being arrested on a domestic abuse charge, Nikki filed divorce papers that were subsequently obtained by TMZ. In those documents, she asked for both legal and physical custody of Matteo.
But in Artem's response document, which Us Weekly was able to access on September 13, he requested Nikki's spousal support in addition to joint legal and physical custody of their son.
According to the reports, Nikki, 40, and Artem, 42, are in agreement regarding one particular point: the day they officially separated, which was August 29, the day he was arrested by the police.
Artem is receiving support from his loved ones, including his former DWTS co-star Gleb Savchenko, during the divorce proceedings.
At the DWTS season 33 premiere on September 17, Gleb told E! News, "He's part of the family." He's a really talented dancer, which not many people know about. He embodies quality. The quality matters more than the quantity.
"He's just my brother and I send him love and positivity," the choreographer continued.
Cheryl Burke, a member of the DWTS family, also shared her thoughts on Nikki and Artem.
"I just hope everyone's OK, and this is just a really unfortunate situation," she said in a Sept. 20 interview with People. "I hope their son is okay, and more importantly, I hope Nikki and Artem are guarding their hearts."
"I hope they take the time they need to heal," Cheryl continued, "even if it means temporarily putting your career on hold."
