Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie, 49, and British rapper-turned-activist Akala, 40, have reportedly intensified their relationship during recent days in London. According to multiple sources speaking to The US Sun, the pair spent two consecutive nights at The Corinthia, a luxury hotel in central London, during the British Film Institute (BFI) Festival where Jolie was promoting her latest film "Maria."
The timeline of their public appearances traces back to May 2024, when Akala was first spotted with Jolie and her daughters, Zahara and Shiloh, at the Calabash Literary Festival in Jamaica. Since then, their paths have frequently intersected at high-profile events, including the Venice International Film Festival in August and the New York Film Festival in September.
A source close to the situation revealed to The US Sun that the pair are employing discrete measures to maintain privacy: "They are using separate cars and secret entrances to keep their relationship under wraps, but it's the real deal." This was evidenced at the recent BFI Festival, where both attended but arrived separately, later convening for an intimate dinner at Soho House.
However, conflicting narratives have emerged regarding the nature of their relationship. While InTouch reported the two have been seeing each other for "more than a year," a People Magazine source in August insisted they were simply friends, stating, "They share the same passion when it comes to social and humanitarian causes." Notably, Akala has been previously linked to business partner Chanelle Newman.
The relationship speculation comes amid Jolie's ongoing post-divorce period following her separation from Brad Pitt in 2016. The actress, who shares six children with Pitt - Maddox (23), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and twins Knox and Vivienne (16) - has maintained a relatively private personal life since the split.
Most recently, Akala and Jolie appeared together at her Atelier Jolie art room in New York City on September 28, where they were photographed among other guests. Representatives for Jolie have not responded to requests for comment regarding the nature of their relationship.
