On the one-year anniversary of Matthew Perry's death, his Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston shared an emotional tribute on Instagram, featuring a series of photos capturing cherished moments with Perry. Aniston, who portrayed Rachel Green, captioned her post simply with "1 year," tagging the Matthew Perry Foundation, which works to support causes close to Perry's heart.

The carousel of images Aniston posted included a range of heartfelt memories. In one black-and-white shot, the two co-stars make silly faces, reflecting their bond off-screen. Another image captures a memorable moment from Friends, where Chandler kisses Rachel on the forehead. Aniston also shared a group hug with fellow cast members Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer. Fans flooded the comments with support, with one saying, "Heartbreaking...Matthew you will always be remembered," and another reflecting, "Such a bright soul! Feels like just yesterday."

Perry passed away on October 28, 2023, at his Los Angeles home, at the age of 54. Perry's assistant and two doctors were among those involved in his death. They were arrested and trials are set for 2025. U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada stated that the defendants had "taken advantage of Mr. Perry's addiction issues to enrich themselves."

Perry's family members also spoke about the tragic loss. His stepfather, Keith Morrison, expressed hope that the charges would deter others involved in illegal drug distribution, noting that "people who have put themselves in the business of supplying people with drugs that kill them—they are now on notice." Perry's mother, Suzanne Morrison, described feeling "thrilled" that charges were being brought forward, and she recalled one of her last conversations with her son, in which he said, "I'm not frightened anymore," a statement that had worried her deeply.

In a rare reflection, Perry's half-sister Caitlin Morrison shared memories of her brother's magnetic presence, saying, "He had this ability to fill up a room with light."
