Former Vanderpump Rules stars Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright's marriage has officially come to an end. The couple, who wed in 2019, had their relationship play out in front of cameras for years, from their initial courtship to their eventual separation in early 2024.
The path to divorce began with warning signs captured during filming of Bravo's new series "The Valley." In March 2024, Brittany voiced concerns about their intimate life, stating "I don't feel like he's attracted to me, we don't have sex ever." This revelation came shortly after their January 24th separation, when Cartwright moved into an Airbnb following what she described as "a very bad fight."
The situation escalated in July 2024 when Taylor entered an in-patient treatment facility for mental health issues. During his second weekend there, he emailed Cartwright suggesting mediation. "I think I blindsided her a little bit," Taylor admitted on Bravo's Hot Mic podcast. "She really wanted me to work on the marriage... and I was just so checked out."
Their post-separation period has been marked by further complications. Cartwright officially filed for divorce in August 2024, requesting primary custody of their three-year-old son Cruz. While Taylor agreed to this arrangement, controversy arose when his response filing questioned whether they were "legally married" – an error his representative later attributed to incorrect paperwork.
The situation took another turn when Cartwright confirmed a relationship with one of Taylor's friends, Julian. "We did not have a no dating in the friend group policy," she stated on Hot Mic, defending her choice. Taylor called this development "a slap in the face," expressing particular disappointment that she chose someone from their social circle.
Their former boss, Lisa Vanderpump, offered perspective on the split: "Everybody predicted that when they got married... the indicator of future behavior is normally past behavior," referencing Taylor's previous infidelities, particularly his 2017 scandal with Faith Stowers.
Despite their personal conflicts, both parties maintain their commitment to co-parenting Cruz. As Cartwright told E! News, "It's going to be fine no matter what, because we both love him so much." Taylor echoed these sentiments, confirming their shared priority remains their son's wellbeing.
Looking ahead, Taylor has expressed contentment with their separation, stating, "I'm very happy right now... I love her. She's the mother of my child. I will always be there for her... I just don't think I can love her like she needs to be loved."
