Queen Camilla made a radiant return to royal duties on Tuesday, Dec. 3, attending a Buckingham Palace state dinner held in honor of the Amir of Qatar. Dressed in a stunning red velvet gown by Fiona Clare and adorned with the diamond Kokoshnik tiara, the 77-year-old Queen appeared poised despite her ongoing recovery from pneumonia.

Last month, Buckingham Palace announced that Camilla had canceled several engagements due to a chest infection, including Remembrance events. Though she is recovering well, she continues to experience post-viral fatigue. At the palace event, Camilla disclosed to guests that her recent illness was a form of pneumonia.

The Queen joined King Charles, 76, in hosting Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani. Although Camilla posed for photos with the guests of honor and attended a luncheon earlier in the day, she left the receiving line early to conserve her energy. She is expected to participate in the farewell events concluding the state visit.

The banquet marked a rare occasion for the Queen to wear a diamond necklace previously owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II, further enhancing her regal appearance.

Meanwhile, Prince William attended the dinner, but Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, was notably absent. Earlier in the day, Kate, 42, helped welcome the Qatari delegation and participated in events, gradually resuming royal duties following her recovery from chemotherapy.

During the evening, King Charles reflected on the enduring relationship between the U.K. and Qatar in his speech, emphasizing the importance of unity during challenging times. "Just as our parents served and worked hard to confront the challenges of their ages, so too must we," he said. "And at such times of uncertainty and upheaval, old friendships assume ever greater importance."

The dinner also saw the debut of David and Victoria Beckham at a state banquet. David, 49, who served as an ambassador for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, was recently appointed as an ambassador for The King's Foundation.

Camilla's presence at the event, despite her recovery, highlighted her dedication to royal responsibilities and added an elegant touch to the evening's proceedings.
