Katie Holmes didn't want to wait too long for the financial status of her and her ex-husband Tom Cruise's daughter Suri to be misunderstood.
The Dawson's Creek alumnus corrected the record a few days after a media report on December 5 suggested that the 18-year-old is now a "millionaire" because of a purported trust fund from her father that "kicked in" after she became a legal adult.
On December 8, Katie posted a screenshot of the article to Instagram with the caption, "Completely false," and "Enough."
Since Suri and Tom's 2012 divorce after more than five years of marriage, the Batman Begins actress has mostly kept Suri out of the public eye. The teen is the only child of the former couple, and Katie has started to share more stories about her in recent years.
"I really like to protect her," the 45-year-old told Glamour in 2023, referring to her daughter's high level of visibility at a young age. "I'm incredibly thankful to be her parent. She is an amazing individual.
As Suri left for college this past summer, Katie made a rare remark about their relationship.
In an August interview with Town & Country, the Broadway actress said, "I'm proud of my daughter." "Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy."
Out of Tom's three children, Suri is the youngest. The Mission: Impossible star is also the father of his children from his previous marriage to Nicole Kidman, Bella Kidman Cruise, age 31, and Connor Cruise, age 29.
While Suri was leaving for college this past summer, Katie made a rare remark about their bond.
