Featuring a marquise-cut diamond set on a yellow gold pavé band, the design has a regal backstory dating back to France's King Louis XV in the 18th century. The elongated diamond cut is said to have been created to mirror the smile of the Marquise de Pompadour, the king's mistress.

Jared Jeweler's VP of Merchandising, Ann Grimmett, described the diamond as "fitting for a talent as rare as Selena" since less than 5% of diamonds feature the marquise cut. Grimmett estimated the ring at six carats and valued it at approximately $225,000. However, Laura Taylor of Lorel Diamonds reported the diamond is likely eight carats, with VVS1 clarity and D-F color grading, estimating its worth to exceed $1 million.
Maxwell Stone, creative director at Steven Stone, called the ring a "symbol of elegance and luxury," adding, "Its elongated shape subtly alludes to the lyrics from Selena's song 'Good for You,' a personal touch from Benny."
The proposal itself was intimate yet charming, taking place during a nighttime picnic complete with Taco Bell. Celebrities and fans alike poured in their congratulations, with Taylor Swift joking she would be the flower girl and Gordon Ramsay humorously attributing the engagement to Blanco's cooking skills.
Gomez and Blanco's relationship timeline shows a steady progression from collaborators to partners. The couple first worked together on the 2019 single "I Can't Get Enough." While they officially began dating in mid-2023, public speculation grew after Blanco attended Gomez's Rare Impact Fund Benefit in October. By December, Gomez confirmed their relationship on social media.
Blanco's thoughtful choice of ring reflects their bond. As he shared in a May interview, "When I look at her... I don't know a world where it could be better than this."
