Amy Robach, T.J. Holmes' girlfriend, did not receive a diamond ring as a Christmas gift. Ultimately, neither of the former anchors of GMA3: What You Need to Know, whose private relationship caused controversy in 2022, is thrilled about the prospect of being engaged during the holidays.
Robach stated on the December 23 episode of her and Holmes' Amy & T.J. podcast, "I really don't like sharing holidays with special events." "I like to have special events be their own special events."
Regarding a Christmas marriage proposal, the 51-year-old continued, "It wouldn't be what I would want."
Indeed, Robach, who was previously married to Andrew Shue from 2010 until their divorce was finalized in 2023 and to Tim McIntosh from 1996 to 2008, said that her prior engagements occurred on "random days that had zero significance."
"If you have some big proposal on a big holiday, it's always going to take a little something away from that holiday if it doesn't work out," she said. "Just something to consider—being realistic and having lived enough life."
Holmes, who previously proposed on "random and insignificant" days, was also married to Amy Ferson from 2004 to 2007 and to Marilee Fiebig from 2010 until divorcing her in 2022.
He went on to say, "I would be hesitant to do it," in reference to dropping down on one knee over Christmas, expressing his dislike of the idea of "hijacking" the holidays. It seems excessive to do so all in one day.
Holmes stated, "Obviously, for anyone who is wondering, there won’t be a Christmas Day proposal."
However, the couple is committed to a long-term relationship regardless of a proposal. "I have said this to you, and I believe you've said it to me as well, that I want to be with you for the rest of my life," Robach stated to Holmes on their podcast earlier this year.
She went on to say, "I want a life partner," in an April show. "I'm looking for a companion. I enjoy waking up and spending the night with you.
Robach added that having a life partner was just as meaningful as having a husband, citing Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, who have been together for 40 years but have never been married.
According to her, "No legally enforceable agreement states that they have to be together."
