During CNN’s ‘New Year’s Eve Live with Andy Cohen & Anderson Cooper’, Jon Hamm was called out as the “male Nicole Kidman” by a playful Andy Cohen for all the projects he has appearing in 2024. Hamm, of ‘Mad Men’ fame indeed has had a very fruitful year with ‘Landman’, ‘Unfrosted’, ‘The Morning Show’, ‘Mean Girls’, ‘Fargo’, ‘Grimsburg’, and ‘Transformers One’, just to name a few.
Cohen’s comment came as he asked Hamm, “Do you feel as an actor you should share a little bit more?” Hamm responded with humor and enthusiasm, “Listen, I’m achieving peak Kidman, I think you called it. I love it. It’s all I can do. I love working. I get to work on great stuff and yeah, why not me? I vote yes, more me.” Anderson Cooper chimed in, “Why not? I agree. I want more Jon Hamm.”
Indeed, Hamm’s long list of projects this year has been compared to Nicole Kidman, who, also over the years, has spearheaded many films and TV shows. Among Kidman’s more recent credits are ‘Babygirl’, ‘Expats’, ‘The Perfect Couple’ and ‘A Family Affair’.
Cohen also reminded that 2025 is the 10-year anniversary of the finale of ‘Mad Men’. Hamm said, “Well, obviously, it's the greatest t’Ing I’ve ever done in my career. I guess what I really am impressed with is that now new generations are kind of discovering the show.” He added, “I’m especially grateful for the fans in Chicago, which has a huge advertising fan base. 30-year-olds go up to me and are like, ‘Oh my God, I love that show.’ I was like, ‘You were 10 when it came out. What are you talking about?’ But, it’s impressive and it’s obviously, it’s something I’m tremendously proud of.”
Hamm’s reaction to being compared to Kidman underlines the fact that he is grateful for his career and all the opportunities that have come his way. Audiences are still seeing him in different roles and projects, so they can be excited to see more of his work in the coming years.
Besides the many projects lined up in 2024, Hamm has also left a huge mark in the entertainment industry for his versatility and dedication to his craft. He is also very good at switching between dramatic and comedic roles with ease for which he has received accolades and a strong fan base. Be it his iconic portrayal of Don Draper in ‘Mad Men’ or his comic turns in films like ‘Bridesmaids’ and ‘Tag’, Hamm has proved time and again that he is a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood.
It will be exciting to see what new challenges and opportunities await Jon Hamm as 2025 gets underway. Comparing him to Nicole Kidman really shows how well he has worked and how respected he is in this industry. Hamm, even after a decade of success, never seems to slow down.
