Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has shared a deeply emotional tribute to her late dog, Guy, revealing the profound impact he had on her life and the depth of her grief following his passing.
In a heartfelt post shared on January 7, Meghan reminisced about her cherished beagle, whom she adopted from a rescue shelter in Canada back in 2015. Guy, she noted, was by her side through some of her life's most transformative moments—her time on Suits, her engagement and marriage to Prince Harry, and the birth of her two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
"If you followed me on Instagram back in the day, you saw a lot of him—and on The Tig too," Meghan wrote, referring to her former lifestyle blog. "He was with me for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort."
Describing the depth of her sorrow, Meghan admitted to crying "too many tears to count," adding that even the running water of a shower couldn't wash away her grief. "The type of tears that make you hope they'll stop, but they don't. And that's okay too."
Fans will still see glimpses of Guy in Meghan's upcoming Netflix series, set to debut on January 15. The trailer features touching moments with Guy, including Meghan feeding him a treat and lovingly catching him snoring.
"Many of you will now see Guy in this new series," Meghan wrote. "I hope you'll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think you may fall a little bit in love too."
Meghan concluded her tribute by thanking Guy for his "unconditional love" over the years. "You filled my life in ways you'll never know," she wrote. The Duchess's moving words serve as a reminder of the unique bond between humans and their pets—a bond that transcends titles and fame.
