Taylor Swift is fully behind Travis Kelce as he continues his football journey, despite the physical demands of the sport. During an appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show on January 15, Kelce, 35, addressed whether Swift, also 35, had encouraged him to consider retirement due to football's violent nature.
"She's fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game," Kelce shared with host Stephen A. Smith. "She loves coming to Arrowhead Stadium, cheering for me at the games. I've got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams."
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end emphasized that retirement is not on his mind right now, as his focus remains on the playoffs. The Chiefs kick off their postseason on January 18 against the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Stadium.
"I love everything I'm doing in this building," Kelce said. "But at the end of the day, I'm excited for these next couple of games to play at Arrowhead and finish the season strong."
While Kelce acknowledged he regularly reevaluates his career, he reiterated his passion for football. "I always take a step back and tell myself how much I love this game. As long as I'm playing good football, helping my team, and enjoying the process, I'll keep wearing the Chiefs uniform," he explained.
Despite a less dominant season, with career lows of 823 receiving yards and three touchdowns, Kelce's enthusiasm remains undiminished. Even before the season began, retirement wasn't on his radar. Speaking to sportscaster Rich Eisen in September, Kelce dismissed the idea, saying, "It didn't cross my mind one bit. The challenge of going for a third Super Bowl win in a row was all the motivation I needed."
Kelce and the Chiefs are aiming to make history as the first NFL team to win three consecutive Super Bowls, having already claimed three titles since 2019.
Swift, who began dating Kelce in 2023, continues to support him both personally and professionally. According to Kelce, she plans to attend the January 18 game, as he revealed earlier this week on The Pat McAfee Show.
For now, Kelce is focused on the playoffs, knowing he has Swift's unwavering support as he pursues more football glory.
