A Mangusta GranSport 33 luxury yacht, aptly named ‘Unleash the Lion.’. This $15 million superyacht was built and shipped from the Overmarine shipyard in Viareggio, Italy, further adding to the Dutch racer’s extravagant lifestyle.
Commissioned 2 years ago, the 33.3m vessel is the embodiment of Verstappen’s love of both performance and beauty. Alberto Mancini designed the yacht and it features a smooth composite hull and superstructure, creating a balance of performance and comfort. A powerful top speed of 26 knots is achieved, and a cruising speed of 21 knots can support a range of 340 nautical miles for the Mediterranean getaways.
The yacht’s interior is as luxurious as its performance. Providing up to 12 guests in five luxurious cabins – replete with a full-beam main suite and VIP area – the yacht guarantee an unmatched comfort. The large sundeck and beach club provide both relaxation and water access, and leading-edge technology, in the form of zero-speed stabilizers, ensures the smoothest sailing.
For Verstappen, the yacht is more than just a toy—it’s a personal statement. The name ‘Unleash the Lion’ draws from his racing motto and merchandise line, symbolizing his fierce competitiveness and drive for success. The digit 33, a direct reference to the number he raced wearing before switching to #1, is discretely in evidence in the 33-meter length of the yacht, which tributes his personal link to the yacht.
This purchase puts Verstappen in a select category of sports superstars who own Mangusta yachts, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Roberto Mancini. It complements his growing collection of luxury assets, which already includes a private jet and an impressive lineup of hypercars.
The understated launch event was attended by Verstappen’s partner Kelly Piquet, who is expecting the couple’s first child later this year. With heightened security and a limited guest list, the occasion mirrored Verstappen’s preference for privacy.
