Lauren Sanchez, fiancée to Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos, has come under heavy criticism for her choice of attire at Donald Trump's inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. The event, held at the US Capitol Rotunda on January 20, saw the former journalist don a white blazer and trousers paired with a lacy corset, which many deemed inappropriate for the occasion.

Social media erupted with backlash, with users on X expressing their disapproval. "Jeff Bezos' future wife Lauren Sanchez is incredibly inappropriately dressed for a state occasion. Someone should have told her that having her white lace bra out on display is not acceptable," wrote one user. Another commented, "Lauren Sánchez's outfit for the inauguration of the President of the United States is downright appalling. A white suit paired with a lingerie overload lace bodysuit is not only inappropriate but outright disrespectful for such a monumental and historically significant event."

Criticism extended beyond her outfit, with some questioning her presence at the ceremony. "Why is Lauren Sanchez at the inauguration? It was supposed to be scaled back because of limited space and no spouses allowed, even for Trump's administration, yet Bezos' girlfriend is there?" another user wrote.

Despite the cold weather in Washington, which forced the event indoors, Sanchez's outfit choice stood out. She initially arrived wearing a white mohair coat but later revealed her ensemble inside the Capitol Rotunda. Comparisons were drawn between her outfit and a similar one she wore at the 2024 Forbes Power Women's Summit in September.

While some appreciated her bold fashion, calling her look "lovely and appropriate in winter white," the overwhelming sentiment was negative. Comments ranged from "Good grief, Lauren Sanchez. Put them away for one day," to harsher critiques branding her choice as "obscene" and "disrespectful."

Lauren Sanchez's public appearances often attract attention, and this occasion was no different. Despite the controversy, Sanchez has yet to publicly address the backlash.
