The son of Audrey Hepburn is not shocked that Ivanka Trump was influenced by such a beautiful woman. Sean Hepburn Ferrer, the son of actress Breakfast at Tiffany and her ex-husband Mel Ferrer, expressed his opinions about the first daughter attending the 2025 Liberty Inaugural Ball on January 20 in honor of her father Donald Trump's inauguration while wearing the black and white Givenchy gown that was originally made for Hepburn for the 1954 movie Sabrina.
Ferrer said in a statement released on January 22 that "it is no wonder that growing up in a family that knew our mother as a household name, she chose to draw inspiration from her" in order to find the pinnacle of elegance and class for an event like this one—the inauguration and the 32nd anniversary of our mother's passing and, most of all, Martin Luther King's day. What a cocktail!”
"Her elegance, which has its roots in her inner beauty and spirit, is often a reference point, an anchor, for many celebrities, actresses, and models in these times in which we appear to have somewhat lost our way," he continued, referring to Hepburn's legacy as "transgenerational and transnational."
Ivanka, for her part, explained her choice of the look—a strapless couture dress with black floral embroidery on the chest and skirt, black satin gloves, black high heels, and a diamond necklace—by citing a long-standing affection for the My Fair Ladystar.
"Ivanka has always found personal inspiration in Audrey Hepburn," an Ivanka representative told Page Six on January 21. "She considers it an immense honor to commemorate her legacy in this manner, and she is immensely appreciative of the Givenchy team for making this moment a reality."
The 43-year-old, who has three children with husband Jared Kushner—Arabella, 13, Joseph, 11, and Theodore, 8—wore more than just the antique outfit on Inauguration Day 2025. During her dad's inauguration event, the Apprenticealum also donned a matching green hat and an emerald green skirt suit that was tightened at the waist with a thin black belt.
