Christy Carlson Romano is counting her blessings after a near-tragic accident left her with serious facial injuries. The Even Stevens alum was rushed to the hospital after being hit in the face by a stray fragment while shooting clay pigeons with her husband, Brendan Rooney.

The Disney star, 40, shared a selfie on Super Bowl Sunday, flashing a peace sign while sporting a bandage under her right eye. Despite the visible bruising, she kept her spirits high, captioning the Instagram Story, "Go team!"

Romano first opened up about the accident on February 8, detailing the harrowing experience. What was meant to be a fun outing quickly turned dangerous when another shooter in their group accidentally fired in the wrong direction, striking Romano in the face.

"There was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face," she wrote. "I was hit in five places, one less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye."

Her husband, Brendan, reacted swiftly, rushing her to the hospital, where doctors treated multiple wounds. However, one fragment remains lodged behind her eye, deemed too risky for surgical removal. For now, she's being closely monitored, though she assured fans she can see normally.

Beyond the physical pain, the Kim Possible voice actress reflected on the emotional impact of the incident. "With everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive," she wrote. "I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes, and I'm telling you—hug the people around you every chance you can."

Rooney also paid tribute to his wife's strength, sharing a heartfelt message in her Instagram comments. "You are the bravest, toughest, most stoic and badass woman I have ever met," he wrote. "I am so thankful you are alive. I wouldn't know what to do without you."

He later posted a lighthearted hospital photo of Romano flipping him off, joking, "My wife gets shot, I ask to take a picture for the record, she flips me the bird and smiles (she nearly lost her eye, mind you)."

Fans flooded the comments with well-wishes, grateful that the actress avoided an even worse fate. While Romano remains in recovery, her resilience and humor prove that even in the face of danger, she's still the strong, fearless woman fans have admired for years.

As she put it best: "Life can change in an instant."
