Earlier in the performance, Smith seemed to jokingly lean in for a kiss, which Martínez playfully dodged. The choreography left fans divided on whether the pair actually kissed or simply created the illusion as part of their act.
"I was waiting for Jada to come out from left stage and smack the sh!t outta her for kissing her man," wrote one commenter, referencing Smith's infamous slap of Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.
Other viewers defended the performance, with one stating, "You can tell the attempt was a joke. They never actually kissed."
Martínez shared multiple posts about the performance, including photos of herself embracing Smith. The performance comes amid ongoing public interest in Smith's relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith after her October 2023 revelation that the couple had been separated since 2016. Despite their separation, Jada explained why they haven't divorced: "I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce, we will work through whatever. I just haven't been able to break that promise."
