Georgina Chapman, Adrien Brody's girlfriend, willingly assisted him in his recent PDA with Halle Berry.
The Catwoman actress knew she had a task to complete as soon as she saw Adrien and Halle, whose famous 2003 Oscars kiss made headlines worldwide, at the 97th Academy Awards on March 2. (View all of the 2025 Oscar winners here.)
The actor from The Brutalist shocked the actress who had given him his Best Actor prize for The Pianist more than twenty years ago with a now-famous on-stage kiss. And in the midst of an Access Hollywood interview, Halle flipped the script and planted one on him after all these years. What was the reaction of his girlfriend of almost five years? As it happens, she was in on the whole plan.
Georgina told Extra, "It was [quite the moment], wasn't it?" following the kiss. "I mean, how can you deny a man a kiss with Halle Berry?"
The fashion designer also joked, "He was more than fine," indicating that she was completely okay with it.
After all, especially in Halle's opinion, this moment has long been coming.
"I've been waiting for twenty-one years to get him on a red carpet and slap one on," Halle told the outlet, adding that Georgina's approval was necessary for the iconic recreation to take place, "only because she was fine could I do it."
But Adrien's famous kiss with Halle wasn't the only moment at the ceremony on March 2 that made people take notice. In fact, he didn't finish his acceptance speech after winning Best Actor for the second time. He even went so far as to order the in-house orchestra to just stop playing music, even though it had started playing halfway through his speech.
"I'm finishing up. Please. Please. The 51-year-old said, "I'll wrap up," going over the allotted 45 seconds. "Please switch off the music. I've already done this. I've done this before. I'll be quick."
His speech ended up lasting five minutes and a staggering 558 words, earning it a place among the longest Oscar acceptance speeches ever.
"One thing that I’ve gained, having the privilege to come back here, is to have some perspective," he said. "No matter how far along you are in your career or what you have achieved, it can all disappear. And I believe that understanding that is what makes this evening so unique.
Naturally, he also took advantage of the valuable extra time to express gratitude to his beloved partner.
He exclaimed, "I share this with my amazing partner Georgina, who has not only reinvigorated my sense of value and my values, but also my own self-worth."
Georgina's children, whom she shares with her ex-husband Harvey Weinstein, were also acknowledged by Adrien. "I know it's been a rollercoaster, Dash and India," he said, "but thank you for allowing me into your life.”
