Speaking exclusively to People at the season 4 premiere of The Righteous Gemstones, Devine, 41, expressed his joy, calling fatherhood "the best." He gushed about his son, who celebrated his first birthday on February 16, saying, "He's just so cute. Every day is like a new adventure."
At the event, held on March 5 at L.A.'s Paramount Lot, Devine revealed that his friends initially tried to discourage him from becoming a parent. "They tried to scare me out of it," he shared. "They were like, 'Your life's over, it's going to suck.'" However, the Pitch Perfect star believes he became a dad at the right time. "I waited until I was an old man. I was ready for my life to be over," he joked. "I was sitting in a bar on a Tuesday, thinking, 'What am I doing here? This is depressing.'"
Devine and his wife, actress Chloe Bridges, 33, tied the knot in October 2021. He previously shared in a January interview with PEOPLE that fatherhood had brought him immense happiness, even making him wish he had started a family sooner. "I love it, and I want to have 11 kids," he admitted. "But my wife is like, 'Two,' and I'm like, 'Four?' and she's like, 'Two.' So we'll see how that goes."
In June 2023, Devine celebrated his first Father's Day by posting a heartwarming Instagram photo of Beau alongside his own father, Dennis. He captioned the post, "Being a dad has been the best experience of my life, and I've learned from the best."
The couple first announced their pregnancy in October 2023 with a playful Instagram post. "Look, we're pregnant!" Devine wrote, while Bridges added, "We have news!! đ€°đ» Can't wait to get this lil family started."
