Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are embracing their engagement while focusing on their forthcoming collaborative album. The couple, who announced their engagement in December 2024, revealed they're not rushing wedding plans while they celebrate the release of their first joint musical project.

"I think every day she's planned a new wedding in her head," Blanco told Rolling Stone in an interview published March 17. "We're very much 'take it one day at a time'-type of people." The producer added that the couple is "still not over this moment," noting that while Gomez ponders wedding ideas, she often finds herself admiring her engagement ring.

Gomez, 32, expressed that her current focus is their upcoming album, "I Said I Love You First," scheduled for release on March 21. "This is such a special time that we get to apply it to this album and really just pour our heart into it," she explained. The album marks Gomez's first musical release in five years, following her 2020 album "Rare."

The couple's engagement story reflects their down-to-earth relationship. Blanco, 37, proposed with an oval-shaped ring featuring a six-carat marquise diamond during a romantic picnic that included Taco Bell. "We're just living our life every day. There's not this whole elaborate thing," Blanco said.

Their relationship timeline stretches back years before they began dating. "I've known her since she was 18," Blanco revealed. "My biggest regret is that we didn't get to do this earlier, like we waited this long to be together. But I know it was perfect and it was right."

The album's creative process proved therapeutic for Gomez. "I was very frustrated and kind of confused on where I wanted to go next musically," she admitted. Blanco's support was instrumental: "She'd wake up, I'd have a pen out, and I'd write what was on her mind. Then we'd go into the other room and create it."

Collaboration with longtime friends Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter strengthened the project. "We did everything from home, and we created it with people that we love," Gomez shared. This familiar environment allowed her to experiment more freely with lyrics and themes.

"These are the moments we get to have with each other, because we're both so busy," Blanco explained. "It's amazing to be able to sit down for 30 minutes and just have a meal that I cooked, or we cooked, or she cooked, and just be able to sit there and talk about nothing."

When asked what he loves most about Gomez, Blanco didn't hesitate: "Her heart and the way she treats everybody. Her best friend, she treats the same way as someone she's holding the door open for or walking down the street. She has one of the kindest hearts I've ever met in my entire life."

The album title, "I Said I Love You First," holds special significance. "It's just factual. It just is actually what went down," Gomez admitted with a smile. Their collaboration represents a new chapter for both artists, blending their personal and professional lives in harmony.
