Although Kelly Clarkson is Miss Independent, her children don't always understand her. The singer of "Piece By Piece" and her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock discussed a double standard that has surfaced in their coparenting dynamic as working parents of children River, 10, and Remy, 8, almost three years after their divorce.

"Why do schools hold events during the f--king day?" On an episode of Not Gonna Lie on March 25, Kelly bemoaned to Kylie Kelce. "They say, 'Oh, your daughter has a performance,' and I say, 'Cool, I get to be the asshole because you decided that 10 a.m. on a Thursday—when we're out here hustling—would be a real opportune moment.'"

She acknowledged that the school's scheduling decisions are "cruel" and that River occasionally makes comparisons between her and the other mothers who are able to attend.

Kylie agreed, adding that her own daughters, Bennett, 2, Wyatt, 5, and Elliotte, 4, appear to comprehend when their father, Jason Kelce, must travel for work. Kelly went on to say that her children are "naturally" accustomed to their father missing important occasions due to his work schedule.

The American Idol alumnus explained, "It's funny though how different it is because even from a young age, like we didn't teach them [that]." 'He's permitted to be somewhere, but you're not,' they say. Like, that's really fascinating.

"There's a lot that I keep in because coparenting is fun," Kelly continued.

She continued by imitating a dialogue she appears to have with her children on a regular basis.

She joked, "Do you think I just go out and sit in the park all day?" "Don't worry, Mommy works. Men and women both work; it's acceptable.

Kelly has previously discussed being a single parent in an open manner. After all, she had already discussed the awkward conversations that occasionally arise when discussing her dating experiences.

"Please, we don't want you with anybody else," they keep saying, Kelly said in an interview with KOST 103.5 in November. "Being young, it's difficult to imagine their mother with someone other than their father."

Naturally, Kelly will not allow her children to prevent her from moving on. "I have said, 'Hey, I love you guys, but Mommy needs lovings too,'" she said.
