Hollywood star Sydney Sweeney and her fiancé Jonathan Davino have officially ended their relationship, closing a chapter that began in 2018. Multiple sources confirmed on March 31 that the couple, who became engaged in 2022, have called off their wedding plans.
"She's exactly where she wants to be. Most people would feel overwhelmed by her working schedule this year, but not Syd. She's all about working right now and very excited about all her projects," a source told People Magazine. The same insider revealed the underlying reason: "What did make her overwhelmed, though, was her relationship and her wedding. She didn't feel right about it."
The 27-year-old "Euphoria" actress is reportedly focused on her skyrocketing career during this pivotal professional moment. With multiple projects in post-production, including the thriller adaptation of Freida McFadden's bestseller "The Housemaid," Sweeney has prioritized her professional commitments over personal milestones.
Industry insiders claim the couple's relationship had been experiencing difficulties since February. Us Weekly reported that while they were originally planning to marry in May, the nuptials were postponed indefinitely. "Sydney and Jonathan have been having major issues but are not fully split," a source stated last week, though the situation has apparently deteriorated since.
Speculation intensified when Sweeney reportedly began staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel in mid-February without Davino. The actress was frequently spotted at the hotel's renowned Polo Lounge with friends rather than at either of her Los Angeles properties.
The couple's relationship became particularly scrutinized in 2023 during Sweeney's promotion of "Anyone But You" with co-star Glen Powell. Their undeniable on-screen chemistry fueled rumors, which both actors later admitted to leveraging for publicity purposes. Interestingly, Sweeney was spotted with Powell at his sister's wedding in Texas this past weekend.
Despite a 14-year age gap, Sweeney and Davino maintained a notably private relationship. The Chicago-based producer, 41, rarely accompanied Sweeney to public events. "It's important to have something for myself," Sweeney previously stated regarding her reluctance to discuss their relationship in interviews.
Their engagement, announced in 2022, came after approximately four years together. Sweeney seldom wore her engagement ring publicly, contributing to persistent breakup rumors throughout their relationship.
"She's not ready to settle down," a source told People. "They only lasted for this long because it was hard for her to break it off. They didn't split because there is no love. They split because she just wants to focus on her career right now."
