James Middleton is talking candidly about being a father. Kate Middleton's younger brother gave a charming glimpse into his life with wife Alizée Thevenet and their 18-month-old son, Inigo. He talked about how well the toddler gets along with their six family dogs and the other animals that reside at their Berkshire country home.

In an April 7 interview with Hello!, James joked, "He spent the first year of his life thinking he was a dog, being on all fours." "His first word was 'woof'—no, it wasn't."

The 37-year-old went on to say, "He absolutely loves the dogs, particularly Isla." Isla is sitting down, and he is standing up right now, and their head heights are equal. She licks him after he wraps his arm around her neck and squeezes his face. I'm delighted that the dogs have accepted him, because we didn't push him into it too much."

James, who married Alizee in 2021, continued by describing how much his son has inherited from him.

"He absorbed my love for dogs and animals," he said. "He enjoys conversing with the animals. He knows what a cow makes and yells at the chickens. He has many of the same interests as me, including dogs, sheep, and tractors.

James acknowledged that he can be difficult to manage at times, stating that "getting up in the morning, trying to feed six dogs, and getting Inigo fed and off to nursery is a challenge." He still enjoys having a full house.

Nevertheless, James is so enamored with his role as a father that he frequently forgets what life was like before he had a son.

"What did we do before we had Inigo?" is a question I frequently ask myself when I gaze at Alizée. He clarified, "What did we do with all that time?" "But it’s like anything in life—you evolve and change."

Actually, since becoming a parent, the 37-year-old has developed a more insightful outlook on life.

"You can look back at the past and enjoy the memories, but not chase them today—it’s a waste of energy," said James. "I've cleaned up enough poop over the years, so I don't care as much about changing diapers! You also need to be patient. Nothing can be rushed.
