Benny Blanco recently surprised fiancée Selena Gomez with a heartfelt recreation of a prom night, after learning she had never attended one. The romantic gesture, which doubled as Blanco's 37th birthday celebration on March 8, was captured in an Instagram reel he later shared on April 24, soundtracked by "Just the Two of Us."
"My fiancée has never been to prom before... so I asked her if we should take prom photos together at a mall... she said yes!" Blanco revealed in the video. He added, "I even rented a limo for us!" The couple began their night dressed in sweats to keep their outfits hidden before revealing their formalwear inside the mall. Gomez stunned in a purple high-low dress with black tights, boots, and a faux-fur coat, while Blanco wore a classic black tuxedo, complete with a bowtie.
Inside the photo studio, they posed in front of a lavender backdrop with traditional prom-style setups, including a pedestal. The reel concluded with behind-the-scenes footage and finished glamour shots of the two striking joyful poses. "It was more fun than either of us expected it to be," Blanco wrote.
Fans flooded the comments with admiration, many calling Blanco a "green flag" for the thoughtful act. One read, "The greenest flag to ever be flown!!!!! We love you Benny!!!!" Social media buzzed with praise as the couple's nostalgic and playful prom night went viral.
Speaking on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Blanco disclosed, "Selena had never been to a prom before, so I thought I'd throw us a prom for my birthday." Although Blanco has been to multiple proms, he shared, "Honestly, my favorite prom was with my partner."
He also recalled Gomez's surprised reaction, saying, "She didn't even know, she was like, 'What am I supposed to wear? What am I supposed to do?!'... It was like she was really going to prom."
From pacing the lawn to waiting at the staircase for Gomez and even announcing their prom plans from a limo window, Blanco orchestrated a fairytale moment. The couple's themed shoot not only fulfilled a missed milestone for Gomez but also left fans swooning over their evident bond and Blanco's grand romantic gesture.
