Kanye West has issued a legal notice against his former dentist, Dr. Thomas P. Connelly, accusing him of unethical conduct related to the administration of nitrous oxide. The rapper, through his legal team led by attorney Andrew Cherkasky, claims the dentist provided the gas in excessive amounts for non-medical purposes and allowed him to use it unsupervised, which allegedly resulted in both physical and psychological harm.
The complaint further alleges that Dr. Connelly continued treatment despite visible adverse effects and later withdrew care without proper transition. West's team argues these actions led to significant personal and financial damage and also strained his relationship with his wife, Bianca Censori. According to the notice, she "lost companionship" due to Kanye's dependency on the gas.
Kanye referenced the situation during a Twitch stream, saying, "My wife made me stop going to the old dentist cause for some reason every time I walk back," while mimicking a sluggish walk. He later clarified, "It ain't his fault, but I had nitrous." West has since switched to a new dentist, whom Bianca helped select. Praising the new doctor, Kanye shared that he even received a chain as a gift from him.
The legal action follows similar claims made in August 2024 by Kanye's former chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos. Milo accused the dentist of "reckless, unethical, dishonest, explorative, and, upon information and belief, illegal conduct," including the unlawful supply of nitrous oxide for recreational use. He expressed concern over the effects of the drug on Kanye, citing the rapper's past struggles with mental health and addiction. Milo also described Kanye's erratic behavior during this period, claiming he discussed the gas "nonstop in meetings" and gave "incomprehensible" directions to staff.
Though Milo briefly stepped away from working with Kanye and Yeezy in May 2024, he later returned. At the time, he stated, "I wish Ye every success in the future. I have some concerns about his new team, and hope he proceeds with caution."
According to TMZ, Dr. Connelly has denied all allegations, stating through a representative that the claims are "not only factually incorrect but also intentionally misleading." He emphasized that his practice complies with all ethical and legal standards.
