In an interview with the Spanish outlet El País ahead of her world tour, the 55-year-old singer and actress reflected on how she spoke honestly with her children while facing personal struggles in the past year.
"I told them, 'Yes, this is a tough moment, but I promise you'll see me come through it stronger and better,'" Lopez recalled. "I made that promise, and I kept it. Now they can feel the difference. That brings me a deep sense of peace."
Over the past year, Lopez ended her marriage with Ben Affleck and called off a tour, but she shared that she's now in a much better place emotionally and mentally.
"I'm genuinely happier than I was a year ago, two years ago, even three years ago," she said. "I'm proud of the progress I've made and how I helped guide my kids through a hard time. They've come out stronger — and so have I. It feels like the perfect moment to go out, perform, and just enjoy the experience with everyone."
Lopez and Affleck were married in July 2022, but she filed for divorce in August 2024. The divorce was finalized in January 2025, with both being legally declared single on February 21.
Despite their separation, their families remain close. In April, Lopez's twins joined Affleck and his children — Samuel (13), Seraphina (16), and Violet (19) — at the premiere of The Accountant 2.
"It's a special night. The kids are here, Jen's kids are here. I'm thrilled," Affleck told Entertainment Tonight. "I'm really proud of the movie, and it's amazing to have all the kids come out. It's a fun and exciting moment."
When ET co-host Nischelle Turner pointed out how "cool" it was to see both sets of kids attending together, Affleck agreed.
"I don't follow online chatter much, but I feel like people sometimes try to stir up negativity," he said. "For the record, Jennifer Lopez is an incredible person. She's wonderful to my kids, and we've kept a strong relationship. I love her children — they're amazing. She's a woman of real integrity, and I admire and appreciate her deeply."
Earlier in April, Lopez was also spotted attending the premiere of George Clooney's Broadway play Good Night, and Good Luck with her teen, Emme. The pair showed up in stylish matching black tie outfits with a vintage velvet twist, paying tribute to Clooney, Lopez's former Out of Sight co-star from the 1998 Steven Soderbergh film.
