Regarding his daughter's journey, Liev Schreiber is being open and honest. The X-Men actor publicly expressed his support for Kai's transition after his 16-year-old daughter, Kai, came out as transgender.
In an article published on May 8, Liev stated, "Kai was always who Kai is." However, her request that we modify her pronouns was, I suppose, the most significant moment. Since Kai had been so feminine for so long, I must admit that it didn't seem like a huge deal to me.
And as his daughter finds strength in who she is, the 57-year-old is proud of her self-assurance and fortitude.
He remarked, "Kai is such a fighter." She should say things like, 'Hey, I am trans,' and 'Look at me'."
Liev is aware, though, that not all trans youth enjoy the same luxuries as his daughter, who is the daughter of famous parents.
He clarified that as a result, he, Kai, and his spouse, Taylor Neisen—with whom he also has a 19-month-old daughter named Hazel—will be contributing to the Ali Forney Center, which houses and supports LGBTQ youth who are homeless.
"Representing the trans community isn't the only goal here," he stated. "In reality, this is a community of people who lack excellent resources, who are unable to get assistance, and who are not receiving protection and care from their families."
"These are individuals who are being turned away," he added. These individuals are dealing with the most severe form of humanity we are capable of providing, and some of them are not surviving it."
Regarding Liev's guidance for parents of transgender teenagers, he stated that it is the same guidance he would offer to parents of any adolescent.
Teens are a real pain in the ass. They're challenging," he said. "Whether or not they identify as transgender is irrelevant because you will overcome this. However, a trans teen will still be a teen.
Naturally, Kai's parents are proud of more than just her transition. During Valentino's March 9 exhibition at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, Naomi—who married Billy Crudup in 2023—celebrated the teen's fashion week debut.
"That’s my @maisonvalentino baby!" At the time, Naomi posted on Instagram. "I’m squealing with pride."
