Anna Wintour has made her first public appearance since announcing she would step back from her role as editor-in-chief at American Vogue. On Monday, June 30, she was seen sitting front row at Marc Jacobs' 2026 runway show held at the New York Public Library. Wintour, 75, arrived in her usual elegant style, wearing a long-sleeve white dress adorned with a red floral pattern. She paired the outfit with gemstone necklaces and mustard-yellow sandals, and completed the look with her signature sunglasses. Among the celebrities who joined her at the event were Julia Fox and Ego Nwodim.

Her appearance came just a few days after Wintour revealed she would be stepping away from her title at Vogue after 37 years at the helm. According to reports from The Daily Front Row, WWD, and Business of Fashion, she shared the news during a staff meeting on Thursday, June 26. While she will no longer hold the editor-in-chief title, Wintour will remain in a senior leadership role, continuing as Condé Nast's global chief content officer and as Vogue's global editorial director. She will oversee all of the company's brands worldwide, including Vanity Fair, GQ, and Architectural Digest.

Speaking to staff during the meeting, Wintour reflected on her time at Vogue and her hopes for the future of the publication. She said that anyone in a creative field understands the importance of constant growth. She recalled how eager she had been to redefine the American fashion magazine when she first took on the role. Now, she finds her greatest joy in guiding the next generation of editors as they bring in fresh ideas and energy. Wintour emphasized that the magazine needs someone bold and visionary to take on the newly created position of head of editorial content for US Vogue.

She added that many of her responsibilities would remain unchanged. She will continue to focus on the fashion industry, the Met Gala, and future editions of Vogue World. She even joked that she plans to remain the magazine's tennis and theater editor indefinitely. Wintour concluded by expressing her excitement about working alongside someone new who will bring new perspectives and inspire the entire team.
