Kelly Clarkson has announced a pause in her Las Vegas residency to care for her two children as her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, battles a serious illness. The singer shared the news via Instagram on August 6, saying, "I normally keep my personal life private, but this past year, my children's father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them." She apologized to fans and thanked them for their patience and support.

Clarkson's "Chemistry: An Intimate Night" residency at Caesars Palace, launched in July 2025, had sold out for much of the summer. Ticketmaster has since marked the postponed August dates as rescheduled to early 2026. The 43-year-old artist, who shares two children, River Rose, 10, and Remington Alexander, 8, with Blackstock, cited no specific diagnosis but made clear her commitment to prioritizing family during a difficult time. A spokesperson for Blackstock declined to comment.

The announcement follows a series of recent performance disruptions. In July, Clarkson canceled two shows due to vocal strain. "The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice," she explained at the time. "I need to protect myself from serious damage." She resumed performances a week later, assuring fans, "This is my favorite show I've ever put together."

Clarkson and Blackstock divorced in 2022 after a seven-year marriage. Since the split, Clarkson has spoken candidly about the challenges of co-parenting and maintaining stability for their children. In a March 2025 podcast appearance, she said, "There's a lot I keep in because... co-parenting is fun." Her 2023 album Chemistry reflected much of the emotional fallout from the divorce. She described the experience to PEOPLE as "extraordinarily hard," adding that music served as a critical outlet during the transition.

Though fans may be disappointed by the postponed shows, many have expressed support for Clarkson's decision. As one fan posted under her announcement: "Family first. We'll be here when you're ready." No further updates on Blackstock's condition have been made public.
