Brandon Blackstock, a well-known talent manager and former husband of singer Kelly Clarkson, has died at the age of 48 following a three-year battle with cancer. His family confirmed he passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, after what they described as a courageous fight.

The announcement came just a day after Clarkson revealed she would pause the remainder of her Las Vegas residency to focus on her family during Blackstock's illness. In a heartfelt statement on Instagram, Clarkson expressed her need to be fully present for their two children, River, born in 2014, and Remington, born in 2016, thanking fans for their understanding.

Born to Narvel Blackstock, CEO of the Nashville-based Starstruck talent management firm, and TV producer Elisa Gayle Ritter, Brandon was introduced to the music industry early in life. His parents divorced when he was 12, and his father later married country music icon Reba McEntire, who helped raise him. McEntire and Narvel divorced in 2015, but she maintained a close bond with Brandon, publicly expressing her support for both him and Clarkson during their difficult divorce in 2022.

Blackstock built a career in talent management, following in the footsteps of his father. His work brought him into contact with some of country music's biggest stars, including Blake Shelton, whom he managed. It was through these industry connections that he met Clarkson, first crossing paths at the 2006 Academy of Country Music Awards and reconnecting in 2012 at the Super Bowl, where she performed the national anthem.

The pair eloped in 2013, with Blackstock later managing Clarkson's career and producing her successful daytime talk show. Their marriage ended in 2022, resulting in a high-profile settlement that included spousal and child support agreements.

Despite the challenges of recent years, Blackstock's colleagues and family remember him as a man devoted to his work, his family, and the music industry he grew up in. His life bridged professional success and personal relationships, leaving a legacy intertwined with some of the most recognizable names in entertainment.

As his family mourns, they have requested privacy, expressing gratitude for the prayers and support extended to them during this time of loss. His contributions to the industry and his role in the lives of those closest to him will remain part of the story he leaves behind.
