Reese Witherspoon has shared a candid look at what it has meant to raise her three children while maintaining a thriving acting career.

On August 14, the actress took to Instagram to share a collection of past photos featuring her three children. The post began with a selfie alongside all three children, overlaid with the words: "Someone asked me what raising three kids and building a career in Hollywood looked like..."

Her answer came in a series of images and captions reflecting both the light-hearted and difficult moments of her journey. One shot with Tennessee in a trailer was captioned, "It looked like spending a lot of time in trailers together." Another throwback selfie with Ava and Deacon in a car read, "It looked like always being on the road together."

Witherspoon also included a humorous exchange with Deacon after he pointed out she had "butt-dialled an Instagram Live." She captioned it, "It looked like my kids constantly giving me career advice!"

But alongside these lighter memories, she acknowledged the strain. "It looked really hard sometimes. I'd cry working 14 to 17 hours, sometimes all night long and still woke up early for carpool. I was deliriously tired," she wrote. "It looked like trying to say something positive about work when I got home at night. So my kids would know that my work was meaningful to me and could be fun!"

Reflecting on the bigger picture, she added, "Even though it was challenging at times, having kids gave me perspective about what was important in life. Nothing was better than getting to come home and hug them and hear about their day!"

She ended her post with, "Grateful to stand alongside other moms in this beautiful, messy journey. Tag the working mom who needs this."
The post drew an outpouring of praise from followers, with comments describing her as an "amazing mom" and "a mighty strong woman."
