Sophie Turner recently shared a story about a past Comic-Con afterparty incident that unintentionally led to a celebrity couple ending their engagement. The 29-year-old actress shared the story on Late Night With Seth Meyers, describing the evening as "quite crazy" and noting that it "went really south really quick."
Turner explained that a childhood friend attending the event had spotted an actor she admired and asked Turner to say hello. "She saw this actor she, like, loved," Turner told Meyers. "That was it," she said of her brief wave. The situation however changed later in the evening.
"I see this girl looking at me and she's a famous actress," Turner recalled. "I go, 'I have to go and tell her how much she means to me.'" When she approached the woman, she was met with an unexpected accusation: "Can you stop f–king flirting with my fiancé?" Confused, Turner asked who the woman meant, only to learn she was pointing at the same actor she had waved at earlier. "I have no idea who this man is," Turner said. "Turns out, they broke their engagement off that night because of my [wave]. I didn't realize I held this power." She however did not reveal the couple's identities.
Beyond the Comic-Con mishap, Turner discussed other challenging moments in her acting career. She described a kissing scene with Kit Harington for their upcoming film The Dreadful as "vile," adding that it was "worse" than working with cockroaches and mice on her film Trust. "We get on set and we are both retching," she recalled, highlighting the unusual difficulties actors sometimes face.
Off-screen, Turner has experienced changes in her personal life. She was married to Joe Jonas for four years before their divorce in 2023 and has since been dating aristocrat Peregrine "Perry" Pearson on and off. Turner and Jonas continue to co-parent their daughters, Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3.
