Two months after the sudden death of Lilo & Stitch actor David Hekili Kenui Bell, the Hawaii Police Department has shared the results of an autopsy that shed light on the factors leading to his passing. Bell, who was 46, was remembered as a generous and spirited performer, but the medical findings reveal serious health challenges.

The report listed four pathological conditions present at the time of his death: morbid obesity, acute respiratory failure, sepsis, and hypertensive/atherosclerotic heart disease. According to medical experts, these conditions create dangerous complications. Respiratory failure, combined with sepsis,a severe reaction to infection, can quickly overwhelm the body, particularly when coupled with preexisting heart disease.

While the exact cause and manner of death were not confirmed, the report detailed that Bell had complained of difficulty breathing shortly before his death. Efforts were made to resuscitate him, but they were unsuccessful. Toxicology results also indicated that no drugs or alcohol above legal limits were present in his system. Investigators have since ruled out foul play, and the case has been closed.

Bell's passing was announced by his family in June, with his sister Jalene Kanani Bell sharing a heartfelt tribute. She described him as talented, humorous, and deeply devoted to his craft. Bell had recently celebrated appearing in the Lilo & Stitch live-action remake, proudly purchasing tickets for his entire family to join him at the premiere in Kapolei. The evening was a joyful memory, surrounded by fans dressed in themed costumes and merchandise.

Beyond his Disney role, Bell appeared in popular television shows such as Magnum P.I. and Hawaii Five-0, earning respect in the local acting community. His family's tributes reflect his passion for storytelling, as well as his role as a beloved brother, son, and friend.

Though his career was cut short, Bell's presence on screen and in the lives of those closest to him continues to resonate. His death highlights the importance of health awareness, particularly around conditions like obesity and heart disease, which remain leading causes of premature mortality.

As his family and fans mourn, Bell's memory lives on in the characters he portrayed and the joy he brought to audiences. His story is both a reminder of the fleeting nature of life and a celebration of the enduring impact of art.
