Britney Spears has once again turned to Instagram to share raw reflections on the most painful chapter of her life, admitting that her 2022 marriage to Sam Asghari felt like little more than a way to mask her heartbreak over being cut off from her children.

The 43-year-old pop icon revealed in a candid post that walking down the aisle with Asghari, then 31, was less about love and more about survival. "The hardest years of my life were my two sons gone for those three years," she wrote alongside a nude vacation photo. "I was cut off from calling or texting. My secret to survival was denial and a lot of tears. It's weird, me and Sam were married, but it almost felt like a fake distraction to help me deal with it."

Her teenage sons, Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden James, 18, did not attend her star-studded Thousand Oaks wedding, where celebrity friends such as Madonna, Paris Hilton, Drew Barrymore, and Selena Gomez cheered her on. The absence of her children, as well as her estrangement from much of her family after the end of her 13-year conservatorship in 2021, left the ceremony feeling bittersweet.

Spears has since reconciled with Jayden, who reached out in late 2024 after years of public tension. Preston, who lives in Hawaii with their father Kevin Federline, has yet to reconnect. A source previously told Us Weekly that Britney was "overjoyed" when Jayden broke the silence: "She hopes Preston eventually comes around too. Not having them in her life left a hole in her heart."

In the same post, Britney also admitted she is finding healing in unexpected ways, including food. "I know I'm healing because I'm hungry again like a child," she shared. "Owning my body feels like telling others no."

Her marriage to Asghari unraveled quickly, with the actor filing for divorce in August 2023. He has since moved on publicly, while Britney continues to share unfiltered thoughts and art with her nearly 42 million followers, navigating recovery, motherhood, and the pursuit of self-love under constant public scrutiny.
